Some Interview and Masterclass goodness

I enjoyed the playing of Joel Frahm ever since I listened his duo recording with Brad Mehldau Don’t Explain. Since then I have transcribed and practiced a few of his solos and gained a lot from those, in terms of sound, phrasing and vocabulary.

Recently I posted a link to some live-videos of his playing, and just before Christmas an article of a Masterclass of his’ got published on Steve Neff’s blog.

I finally came around listening to the recording last night and it is a very insightful and a recommended must listen if you are interested into Jazz improvisation.

In the same spirit I found an interview with him in episode #27 of The Jazz Session, which is dated some way back after the release of his recording We used to Dance.

I didn’t know about the podcast The Jazz Session which looks like a keeper as well. Will have to do some more catching up on this one.
