My favourite Jazz recordings: Stan Getz/Kenny Barron - People Time

Inspired by the perfect album series by Marc Myers on Jazz Wax I thought it would be fun to do something similar. I have discovered some real gems in there and thought it could be nice to share some of mine.

One of the albums that I have been listening over and over, and the first one that came to my mind, is Stan Getz & Kenny Barron’s - People Time.

The album was recorded live during a four night gig at The Café Montmarte in Copenhagen on 3-6 of March 1991, just three months before Stan Getz passed away on the 6th of June.

The recording was first released in 1992 as a double CD, which up to this day is in my possession. It was re-released as People time: The Complete Recordings, and contains the complete seven sets of the 4 days in Copenhagen.

The original release of this album from 1992 was relased on Gitane’s Jazz and contained only 14 tracks of the 48 recorded ones. In the past this release often had been only been partially available on streaming services but this re-issue contains all performances.

This (full) recording though is fully available on both Spotify and Apple Music and this sure makes me happy.
